Trimble Tablets: Windows 10 → Windows 11 Upgrade Guide

Trimble Tablets: Windows 10 → Windows 11 Upgrade Guide

1. Windows 10 End-of-Life (EOL)

  • Support ends: October 14, 2025 — no more updates, security fixes, or technical support.

  • Recommendation: Trimble encourages users to upgrade to Windows 11 before this date to maintain compatibility, security, and support for Trimble software.

Disclaimer: The decision to upgrade is ultimately the responsibility of the user or organization. Trimble cannot be held liable for any issues, data loss, or operational impact that may result from upgrading or not upgrading to Windows 11. Always back up your data and verify software compatibility before proceeding.

2. Trimble Tablet Compatibility

  • Supported on Windows 11:

    • T100

    • T10X

    • PCs/laptops (depends on manufacturer support for Secure Boot and TPM 2.0).

    • All Trimble tablets shipped after February 2023 come with Windows 11 preinstalled.

  • Not supported on Windows 11:

    • T10

    • Kenai

    • FZ-series tablets

    • Older hardware in general

If you are running an older version of FieldLink (v6.8 or below):

  • Windows 11 support is not guaranteed and has not been validated.

  • Unsupported tablets or FieldLink versions will cause issues after upgrading to Windows 11 (e.g., app crashes, failed instrument connections, or FieldLink not starting at all).

  • Action required:

    • Confirm your hardware is supported (T100, PC, or T10X 2024).

    • Ensure you are running the latest subscription version of FieldLink.

    • If you are on v6.8 or earlier, you must upgrade your FieldLink subscription before moving to Windows 11.

      How to verify support:

      • Review the FieldLink release notes/patch notes (available online).

      • Or open Trimble Installation Manager (TIM), which will list available versions for your device and operating system.

4. Upgrade Options

Note: It is highly recommended to back up your data when following either option.
  1. Upgrade Installation (1st Option):

    • Keeps files and applications intact.

    • Steps:

      1. Open Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update.

      2. Click Check for updates.

      3. If Windows 11 is offered, select Download and install.

  2. Clean Installation (2nd Option):
