Trimble RealWorks – Installation Guide

Overview

Trimble RealWorks is desktop software used for 3D point cloud processing, registration, and analysis.
This guide explains how to install RealWorks, activate licensing, and handle common issues.

1. Download & Install

  1. Download Installer

    • Download the RealWorks installer directly from Trimble: Trimble RealWorks Installer 

    • Click "Trimble Realworks Downloads" → "Download - Trimble Realworks xxxx.xx disk Installer" 

  2. Extract Files

    • Once downloaded, right-click the ZIP file → Extract All.

  3. Run the Installer

    • Open the extracted folder.

    • Right-click TrimbleRealWorks_xxxx.xx.xxxx.x → select Run as Administrator.

    • Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.

  4. Restart (Recommended)

    • After installation completes, restart your computer to finalize setup.

2. Licensing

  • RealWorks supports subscription licenses.

  • Users can install and activate subscription versions at any time.

  • No need to uninstall previous versions when moving from a perpetual license.

3. Post-Installation Setup

  • Verify License Activation: Sign in with your Trimble ID to activate your subscription.

  • Update Drivers: Ensure scanner or total station drivers are current if connecting hardware.

  • Set Default Folders: Adjust project and data paths in RealWorks preferences.

4. Updating RealWorks

  • Check Trimble’s support site periodically for updates or patches.

  • New versions are typically published directly on the Trimble RealWorks download page.
