1. Installation Steps

1. Open Trimble Installation Manager (TIMs)

   • Launch TIMs on your computer.

   • Click the Show All button to view all available Trimble software.
     
     
     

2. Install Field Points

   • Scroll down until you see Trimble Field Points.

   • Click Install and follow the prompts.

3. Finalize Installation

   • Once complete, launch Field Points.

   • Perform initial setup if needed (e.g., connect GNSS devices or other hardware).

2. Important Notes & Warnings

• RLM Version Warning:

  • The RLM version of Field Points exists only for users on perpetual licenses (up to version 2023).

  • Subscription users should not install the RLM version. Installing it may cause conflicts.

  • If switching from RLM to subscription or reinstalling, uninstall all previous versions of Field Points and the RLM program first. (Uninstall RLM).
    

3. Post-Installation Configuration

• Verify License Activation: Confirm your license is active (local or network).

• Device Connection Setup: Connect total stations, GNSS receivers, or other hardware.

• Default Settings: Set project folders, templates, and user preferences.

4. Common Issues & Troubleshooting

• Installation Failures: Ensure TIMs is up to date and you have admin rights.

• License Errors: Verify license validity, server accessibility, and firewall settings.

• Device Detection Issues: Check cables, power, and drivers.

• Crash/Freeze: Review logs, reinstall software, or update Windows/drivers.

5. Updating Field Points

• Use TIMs to apply patches or upgrades.

• Verify version after update.

6. Uninstallation

• Use TIMs to safely uninstall Field Points without removing project data.

• Clean up license files if switching license types (RLM → subscription).
