EM120 Radio Module Support Bulletin

Issue Summary

Users may report that the RTS icon is missing or that the radio module is not being detected by the tablet. Standard troubleshooting steps—such as toggling Airplane Mode, removing/re-attaching the radio, or rebooting—do not fix the issue.

This is typically caused by the EM120 radio module driver not being installed, which must be added manually.

Symptoms

  • RTS icon missing in field software

  • Radio does not function or connect

  • EMPOWER Hub shows the radio as:

    • Green checkmark → Radio detected and working

    • “No hardware detected” → Radio not recognized

    • “Hardware detected. Please install EMPOWER Hub Content Provider” → Driver/software missing

  • Some users may not have Trimble Update Viewer, but it is not required for this fix

2. Download & Install the EM120 Drivers Manually

Check the attached PDF below

  1. Download the EM120 Support / Content Provider installer from the bulletin

  2. Run the installer

  3. Reboot the tablet if prompted

3. Verify Operation After Installation

  1. Reopen EMPOWER Hub

  2. Confirm the radio module now shows a green checkmark

  3. Open field software and confirm the RTS icon is visible and functional
